This took some serious work--roughly 5 hours dashing between different fabric stores, which would be easier if I could stand and/or walk. Sharla's a champ for being my escort. Next time, I'm taking this baby. I can walk, I can sit--win/win.
My MIL Bon-Bon is going to make a quilt for me, and I found these 30's/40's inspired fabrics that will go with this cute pattern--it will pretty much look like that quilt. Adorable!
Next up--the big stuff! The main fabric for the crib. I present to you: "Rainy Days and Monday's Always Get me Down " by Riley Blake.
You can see the entire collection here.
Here's where you come in. I'm going to make a box-pleat crib skirt out of the white retro umbrella pattern above. That's decided.
The bumper is going to be 3 different fabrics similar to the bumper in this picture. It will repeat the pattern all the way around the crib.
I need 3 choices out of these--which ones do you think will work the best?
A
I also think I'm going to do a vinyl umbrella above the crib. I think this one is cute:
Here's the color chart for the umbrella. I'm thinking the green, dark green, gray or yellow one. Persimmon is also cute. Thoughts?
Okay people with good taste. Let me have it.

Bubblegum for the umbrella if it marches the bumper close enough.
Everything will be sooo cute!
I'm overwhelmed.
This stuff is heartbreakingly adorable and it pains me to read it. Those patterns are all so cute you can do no wrong. I might go with
BEG to make sure there is enough pink in there. Is the room still going to be painted yellow? That is necessary info before we decide any of this! Just remember the rest of your children may be red-headed boys so don't err on the side of too little pink.
Also what are you doing for a crib sheet?
Then go with the green or dark green umbrella.
@ Sara--suck it up and vote!!
Yep, light yellow room, white PBK crib.
Probably just solid color for the crib sheet, nothing too fancy. But it will match the rest of the fabrics.
who stole kaari? who wrote this post? it can't possibly be my beloved friend because, unless i'm mistaken, i think i read that she plans to use vinyl in her child's room.
B.F.I. for the fabrics. mustard (i) totally compliments the umbrella pattern. super cute!
H, I would like the record to show that you put me on blast and forced me into commenting.
I'm not anti-vinyl, I'm anti-cheesy vinyl.
"All because two people fell in love."
"Home is where our story begins."
"Dance like no one is watching."
Ya feeling me?
Sorry if these are on your wall. I probably already angered you with my anti-headband stance. Sorry.
I would vote for E,G, and K. For the umbrella vinyl I would go with the yellow-green.
They are all very cute though!
I should have read all the comments first. I just saw that the walls will be light yellow, so instead I'd vote for a darker green or pink rather than yellow green vinyl. How fun!
You and Tyler should be roommates. He won't let me decorate with any words or phrases.
C,H,K although I need to see them all together. My vote is basically for one multi colored one, one pink, and one green. I say do the binding/ edges in H or another heavily pink as well.
love the umbrella crib skirt.
I think the vinyl umbrella is cute, but my vote is doing it with some fabric and starching it to the wall- way cuter and more unexpected than vinyl in my humble opinion. I did a post on it last year when I did the tree in Ivy's room. http://clason.blogspot.com/2009/04/room-decor.html
I'm anti vinyl words too (Jacobs.. Established 2003), but I do like headbands (in reasonable sizes) so take my style input for what it's worth :)
good luck! Can't wait to see pics. I love this stuff.
I'm searching the web right now for vinyl lettering websites. Instead of T.Ping your house we will sneak inside and "vinyl" it with great quotes on every wall.
Ok after many openings of browser windows and comparing all fabrics together, and then closing and reopening windows I've decided that I like D, G and I. Not too much pink but still a decent amount and not too much green (you've picked a lot of green!)
For the Umbrella I think you should do Grey because the Umbrella fabric has grey tops for the Umbrellas.
That's my 2 cents!
I think E and G definitely. And, then I think I or K and do the umbrella in that color or in the grey (I agreed with the post about the umbrella tops being grey on the fabric). And, I love this idea for the nursery! Too cute. Maybe in a few years, I will consult you about such things.
DGK
D: I like this pink fabric because the circular shapes mimic the design on some of the umbrellas on the skirt fabric.
G: The raindrop fabric is great for obvious theme reasons.
K: I actually like the yellow honeycomb design best, but with the walls being yellow, the green may work better.
*And I agree that gray seems like a good color for the umbrella...I also like the idea of using fabric instead of the vinyl.
I didn't want to read the other comments because I wanted to give you my opinion without being swayed by others. But then I needed to know your wall color so I looked. Glad you are doing yellow on the walls by the way.
So I think you have a lot of pattern going on in the crib skirt and I love the umbrella fabric you picked for that. It may look better to pick less pattern for the bumper and more solids, which pains me to say because I love those pattern ones but you don't want it to look too busy.
If it doesn't look busy in real life, I guess I would go with E, G and I but I would really prefer to be with you in the fabric store comparing fabrics to make my final decision :-)
For the umbrella in the room (which is adorable) I would go with hot pink which I know you don't want. Remember that hot pink is way more hip than light pink.
E, G, and I.
That is my opinion and i am sticking to it.
BUT, I would sway on the E...could go to F.
super cute. that umbrella fabric is seriously the cutest thing ever.
I like "I". I am in love with yellow and with dots, so I had no other choice. Also, I think green vinyl would be so cute :) I love the umbrella fabric!
i like B E G too.
I agree with Johanan, D G and I are your best bets! I can't weigh in on the umbrella vinyl until I know what color the walls are going to be (did you already mention that?)
Seriously, LOVE the umbrellas. The rest of the fabrics kind of overwhelm me too. Totally not a quilter, matching patterns is not a strong point.
I have no idea. I do love
You are brave with the vinyl bestie. Not sure I could do it, though the pattern is cute. Vinyl scares me too. Sometimes its creepy. But the umbrella doesn't creep me.
HA! Should have said, I do love them all above.
I totally vote for C,H and I with dark green umbrella! Good luck!
