The Rock

Lance's adorable cousin and 3/4 of her kids came to SF on a trip. Lucky for us, we talked them into touring THE ROCK. I totally hear Sean Connery saying that as I'm typing. You?

Anywhoo, we had a blast. Angie is an outgoing talker just like me, so we got along swimmingly. The kids liked Beezie...maybe a bit too much. As in 'fought over who got to talk to, push, play with, and feed her' throughout the day. NO complaints. I got free babysitting, and Beezie ate it up.

The funmakers

It was a gorgeous day. February can go either way in the city, but we lucked out in the weather department. It was absolutely gorgeous.

We enjoyed our tour. I'm sad to say that despite living here half my life, I've never been to Alcatraz. I will have to go back when Beezie is a bit older, and able to enjoy the audio tour.

At one point, B felt sleepy, and laid down on the ground. But not before licking the concrete. Sick.

After the tour, we walked around SF, and soaked up the sun. We checked out the lovely sea lions in all their sunbathing glory.

We walked along the Embarcadero, and then made out way down to Gott's for some fancy grub.

Mmmmmm...always a hit. They have the best sweet potato fries in the world.

Thanks for meeting up with us. We'll try and make it back east soon, and you can treat me to a Wahlburger.

In totally unrelated news, Beezie has been dunking her Paddington Bear in the toitie. TWICE. I thought the first time was a fluke, but then she overlooked her other toys, and dunked him again 2 days later. He must look thirsty.

I also found the world's best white elephant gift for this annual party. I present to you....The Dollottoman!

It's a doll....it's a small ottoman...it's a dollottoman! What's not to love? We won a prize for the best worst gift. You know the recipient is having nightmares, and curses us daily for this "great find." You're welcome!

B continues to cute it up with her curly locks, big smiles, and sassy words. Seriously. This kid is secretly watching Jerry Springer, I'm positive of this. She wags her finger and says "no, no, no" while staring you down. Who else could have taught her to talk to the hand? Ain't no way she learned that from me, even though I'm all that and a bag of chips!

How Kaari Got Her Groove Back

This post is speculative, because my groove is still missing. And I'm fairly certain that finding it does not involve one Taye Diggs.

Thankfully, it's not just me. We were chatting after my Storytime this morning, and we were trying to figure out ways to bring on the fun.

My own thoughts on the subject were formed when I realized that all of my thoughts have revolved around my numb leg, caloric burn, water aerobics, and weight loss. That crap ain't fun!! I blame the oldies in my water aerobics class--every day is a litany of complaints about the lifeguard, their vertigo, the selections in the vending machine...you get the picture. It's a pool full of Debbie Downers.

I switched things up tonight and went to Zumba for the first time. This class is attractive to guidos in wifebeaters.

It's the Latin Jazzercise. I had avoided it for a long time because I thought the music was all lameski salsa music. I didn't realize it was Latin hip-hop! I got down, and was sweating buckets by the end. My cheeks are still beet red.

A blow to my vanity

As I was exiting the parking lot, I was amazed at the jackwagon who pulled off this one. I reckon the Y loses about 6-8 prime spots to bad parkers every day! I'm submitting it to badparking.us.

I digress. How are we all going to amp up the fun? Stephanie suggested that we caravan down to Burbank and try out for TV shows. I wanna come on down to the Price is Right!! I would rule Pinko--the pink, fuzzy stairs are calling my name!

Who's in? The first step to winning is being an audience member. Tickets available here. There's a 9/325 chance we will be selected. I suck at math, but those are good odds, right? Is there a Mathlete in the house??

If You're Bored then You're Boring

I don't like boring things--I really don't like boring people. In fact, this year's Halloween party theme is "your worst nightmare" and I may go as a boring person. Or mixed fruit (eww!!!)

We here at Team Jacobs have a "family fun list" similar to my own personal fun list. This keeps us from A. being lame B. getting bored and C. never knowing what to do when we have some free time.

On the way up to SF for the day, we brought along our Frommers guide for Northern California. It has great insight into each city, and gives great suggestions for day trips, extended trips, walking trails, food, sights, etc. We went through the whole book and created our Team Jacobs Family Fun List. This was a tradition we started on this trip. We definitely did a lot of the things on that list--concerts, Napa, trip to Utah, Point Reyes, Camp Lehi. We definitely missed cooking classes, learning to kayak, beach camping, and Yosemite. These same things appeared on the new updated list.
