Ahoy, Scallywags! Beezie Turns 3!

B is definitely her own girl. A princess she is NOT. Whenever people call her 'princess,' she looks at them like they're insane. I tell them to try pirate if they want her attention. It's no surprise she chose a Jake/Pirate theme for her 3rd birthday. She loves all things pirate--treasure, scallywags, ships, and drama with a one handed villain.

We started off with a little celebration at school. We had taken a field trip to the local park that day, and got to bring sack lunches with snacks for the crowd. She loved that her celebration took place at the park instead of school.

On her actual birthday, we started the day out right with a doughnut from Stan's. She requested one with "sparkles," so I obliged.

She was SO excited for her party. I had been able to leverage the impending celebration for all sorts of things--pottytraining and/or behavior in general. She talked about it for months beforehand. The big day finally arrived!

Bonnie made an amazing pirate cake for B. She absolutely loved it!

Word on the street was the cake was amazing!

Thanks to everyone for coming, and making B's big day so special! She had a blast, and this was pretty much the last day she didn't act like a wild banshee. 3 has been special.

Costumes, and Zombies, and Patchin...Oh MY!

As you may know, October is my favorite month. It's spooky, creepy, and magical. I know this is probably blasphemous to say in relation to Christmas, but I love a creepy good time. Deep down, I'm a weirdo with creepy sensibilities. Here's what we got up to this year!

Practiced our samurai moves with the yardstick. Points to Logie for his photobombing skills!

Got our first haircut at Lollipop Cuts. B was great, and earned a pina colada and carousel ride at Westgate afterward!

Had a Mommy and Me date to Disney On Ice. It went better than last time. I'm proud of my future Blockhead, and her enthusiasm!

Went to my second annual Pumpkin Pig Out. It's exactly as it sounds. Everyone brings pumpkin goodies and pigs out. Glad I get to wear stretch pants legitimately these days.

B got upgraded to a big girl bed. She loves it, and does a very good job of staying in her bed and room when she's supposed to. She's so proud of herself, and her new bed.

Went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and spent the day among the fishies and jellyfish.

Got the yard all decked out, and ready for some spooky fun. The best part was the zombie coming out of the ground. On the way in and out, B would wave and say "Hi zombie creeper!" as if it were an old pal. Haha!

Had fun rocking all of our Halloween wear--bows, jammies, shirt...B is SO into it. She's my gal!

We got to borrow Colin for a few days while Inger was busy having her cute little babe. We bought him jammies, and made sure everything was Halloween themed. He was in spooky heaven!

I took B and Colin to Spina farms for a day of patchin in the sun. They ate it up.

We made it down to Uesugi with Lancer for another day of patchin fun. He had never been before, and had a blast with us.

We had a little Halloween party at school that included a parade. B's partner for the parade was Hadley, who was rocking an adorable Sophia the First dress.

Inger and I foolishly took B and Colin to a pumpkin patch to let them drive the Gators. My friend Alyssa made it look like a blast, so I thought she was on to something. It was the worst money ever spent. These two have NO driving/steering/turning skills whatsoever, and repeatedly ran into us and the hay bales.

 Patchin is hard biz

We also had the ward Trunk or Treat and Halloween party. B was in a great mood, and made the night totally special.

We went to an adult Halloween party, and I paid homage to my favorite show, The Walking Dead. It was AWESOME!

I won the contest by drawing a zombie on top of my head without looking. This is me with my prize winning plate.

And the best photo of all is this little gem. I hope you have nightmares tonight.

Halloween finally rolled around, and we did white chicken chili, and then hit them mean streets of Sunnyvale with our gang of hoodlums.

What a difference a year makes!

Lest you foolishly think the month was all fun and games, I preset to you a montage of the best cries in October.

But on Novemeber 1st, B handed me the pumpkin in her room, and wisely said "It's November now, Mom. Let's get this pumpkin out of here." That's my girl. Forgiven.
